Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites

Anderson Silva is the most dominant champion in the UFC today. His Muay Thai is legendary. He’s submitted a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He’s had to fight at light heavyweight just to fend off boredom. What more is there to say about this man? Not much, other than it’s going to take a remarkable fighter to beat him.

It’s highly doubtful that Thales Leites is that man. It’s true that anything can happen in MMA. Even Georges St. Pierre was upset by a wise-cracking midget. Anderson has had moments of vulnerability on the ground. Thales definitely has a grappler’s chance of getting a submission. Even with all that in mind, Silva will still be the overwhelming favorite coming into this fight.

However some might say that Silva has lost his killer instinct. They’ll say that he looked bored in the Patrick Cote fight. Well, having won that fight by default, (Cote’s leg gave out in round 3) he’s now quite eager to redeem himself. There’s no way that Silva will ever be the type of person to step into the octagon just to collect a paycheque. He’s a man who takes his championship very seriously. And now…he’s pissed. Leites better have a very smart game plan if he wants to survive past the first round.
