Anthony Johnson Defeats Yoshiyuki Yoshida
Anthony Johnson came in six pounds overweight. You'd have to send away to NASA to calculate how many pounds he cut before stopping at 176. Poor Yoshiyuki Yoshida looked scared to be in the octagon with him. As it turns out, Yoshida had good reason to be scared. Anthony started throwing power punches right away. He connected with them too. Yoshida had no answer. He couldn't get close enough to even try getting things down to the mat. By the time he got there, he was unconscious. Johnson was bigger, stronger, longer and faster than his opponent. It was a decisive victory. It proved he could wail away on a small judo fighter. In other words – this win didn't do much for him. People will always remember the weight issue. However things will more than likely turn out fine for the young super-welterweight. His stock was high before this fight. All this does is give him more time to hone his craft, before taking on tougher opponents. Provided he can win his next fight AND make weight, he'll be right in line for a title shot.
