Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
This is a match to determine who the true heavyweight champion is. Although, Joe Rogan says that it’s Brock and we should just accept that. However it’s clear that Brock is a humble man and wouldn’t want to take credit for something he didn’t earn. Ahem. The truth is, the title situation is just window-dressing for the real story: the rematch. Frank Mir spoiled Brock Lesnar’s UFC debut over a year ago. Of course, as Brock would be quick to remind us, it WAS just a fluke. Since then, Lesnar has gone on to become the UFC champion. Now, he’s looking to avenge his one MMA loss. In order to that, he’s going to have to demonstrate a much better understanding of grappling. Specifically, he’s got to realize when someone is not just playing “footsies” with him. Lesnar looked great in dispatching of Heath Herring and Randy Couture. However those are his only UFC victories. There’s no doubt he’s got exceptional wrestling skills. He also proved that he has tremendous punching power. However there are still plenty of holes in his game that can be exploited. Frank Mir showed great stand-up skills against Nogueira. So, Brock is in danger wherever the fight goes. On the feet – it’s Brock’s knockout power vs. Frank’s superior skill. On the ground – Brock will have to use his dominance in top position while avoiding Frank’s vast array of submissions. My prediction: The UFC will make tons of money with this PPV. My second prediction: MMA will still be banned in major regions throughout North America, simply because the economy really isn’t that bad.
