Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt

Those who watched the Countdown to UFC 89 will remember what Chris Leben said about himself. He said he was a new man. He had rededicated himself to MMA. You weren’t going to see the old irresponsible Chris Leben.

And then, after losing the fight to Michael Bisping, he promptly got busted for steroids. Oh well, you have to start somewhere, right?

Now we’ll see what kind of mindset Leben is in. Will he be angry at being on the shelf for so long? If that’s the case, he’ll probably resort to that brawling-style we’re used to seeing from him. Against Rosholt, that might work, as Jake isn’t an Anderson Silva-like counter-puncher.

Chris has got to make the most of this opportunity, as his credibility has almost run out. The UFC has already given him a few second chances. We don’t even want to get into his antics on the Ultimate Fighter. After all, he’s changed since then.

As for Jake Rosholt, he’s known for having a rough exterior and a fighting style to match it. In all fairness, he might have a wrestling advantage over Leben. Other than that, there’s nothing else that says Rosholt can win this fight.

Despite the dark cloud that hangs over Leben, he’s accomplished a lot in the UFC. He’s also had a lot more experience at this level than his opponent. Leben fans would love to see the return of his vicious knockout punches. If there ever was a night to have that happen, August 29th would be it.
