Dana White vs. GLAAD pt. 2
Actually, there are a few questions that need answering. One of them being: Was Dana White a threat to the homosexual community? The answer is most likely “no”. However it should be taken into account what a wide variety of things Dana White has said. He’s called the owners of EXC “boxing scumbags” for supposedly paying fighters to avoid going to the ground. The fallout from the Seth/Kimbo fight suggests that there is some validity to Dana’s accusations. There was an official investigation into the matter but EXC had already gone belly-up by that point. Dana has also talked a lot of trash about the “T-shirt guys” at Affliction. He’s pointed out their poor business decisions, of which they’ve had plenty. Over-paying their fighters is probably their worst move. There are not many people that would call that “good business”. So, it’s true that Dana is not afraid to target groups of people that get his attention. There’s no doubt that Dana could stand to be a little less hostile. However in most of his tirades there’s a lot of validity to what he’s saying. He’s always had a colorful way of expressing himself. At least you can say he’s not playing favorites. The point here is that he’s never said anything directly about homosexuals because he’s had no reason to. In the interview in question, he used the f__ word to describe someone he didn’t like. The issue was about journalism, not sexuality. He still should have avoided using that word. Dana needs to know when he’s pushed his luck to the fullest extent. However at least we can say that he didn’t intend to target homosexuals and likely never will.
