Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy
This is a fight that’s been getting a lot of build-up on the internet. It seems Dan Hardy is playing the “Marcus is a fake Irishman” card. The last guy who did that (Jess Liaudin) wound up getting beat in the first round. Despite that, Hardy still think it’s a good idea to piss off Marcus Davis. Most folks would suggest that it is in fact NOT a good idea. Marcus has fired back, saying that Hardy is the one with the cheesy gimmick. In all fairness, having a goofy-looking mohawk has been a staple of many fighters. Really, they’re both guys that like to have something about them that makes them unique. It’s all part of being marketable. Speaking of which, I’m completely jaded by pre-fight trash talk. The ending of the Serra/Hughes fight was the turning point. We now know that no matter how much bad blood there is, the two fighters will always make peace at the end of the fight. So what’s the point of getting worked up in the first place? Wouldn’t it be a lot more efficient to not get angry in the first place? Ahh but that wouldn’t sell the fight properly…how silly of me. So, let these two have their contrived feud. Luckily for us, Davis and Hardy are bound to put on a good show regardless of the artificial antagonism. None of them like to go to the ground much. This has all the makings of a great brawl. Please insert the obligatory fast-food fighting joke here.
