Evan Dunham Defeats Efrain Escudero

Efrain Escudero came almost as close to finishing his opponent as Tom Lawlor did. There must be a first round winner’s curse. Or, Efrain got too damn cocky later in the fight. He was smiling the whole time. Why are you smiling Efrain?! You got your arm ripped off by a guy who dances like he’s in a boy band. Albeit, Evan Dunham is a terrible and effeminate dancer but the point still stands.

This really was a case of Efrain being in need of a learning experience. A lot of guys his age need some humbling. He looked over-confident on the Ultimate Fighter too. There, all he had to do was beat up Junie Browning, so it wasn’t a big test for him.

Efrain really should have tapped sooner. When you’re caught in a guillotine, there’s often a chance you can shift your weight to escape the hold. However Evan had the arm bar locked up with his legs and arms.

To recap – guillotine = bad time to tap quickly.Triangle-locked arm bar = good time to tap quickly.

At least we can all learn something from Efrain’s pain.

Indeed, Evan Dunham has some dangerous ground skills. He also doesn’t mind bending his opponent’s arm to the most disgusting angle possible. He has no soul. His boyish appearance is just a ruse.

Unfortunately for Evan, his next opponent will take him much more seriously. There are lots of wrestlers in the lightweight division with great submission defense. Not that I’m wishing Evan any ill will. But I am bitter that he can do a post-fight dance like that (in the freaking UFC octagon) and get away with it.

Next Fight: Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz
