Jared Hamman Defeats Rodney Wallace

After two epic title fights, it’s really hard to get into one of these prelims. There’s a reason why they’re shown first. Neither of these two are even close to title contention. In fact, there’s no guarantee that either one of them will be in the company next year. Regardless, I’ll try to find something interesting to say here.

First off, it was fun to watch. It resembled an Ultimate Fighter try out match. They both had a lot more heart than technique. It’s hard to be at your best when your nerves are flying off the handle. Jared Hamman showed the most composure, which is part of the reason he won.

It should be noted that Rodney Wallace was blown up like a balloon. Like Joe said, a muscular physique looks nice but it is detrimental if you’re in MMA. The sad thing is, Rodney could have finished things early. He connected with a couple of good shots that sent Jared running. Wallace just needed to settle down for a second before wind milling his next punch. Then, he wouldn’t have dealt with the next two agonizing rounds.

Indeed, Hamman took over in the last half of the fight. He did a good job of controlling his opponent on the mat. He was tired of dodging haymakers. Although by that point Wallace didn’t have much energy left. In the end, the Postman vanquished the Body Builder. Speaking of prelims…

*Bonus Thought*: The UFC aired the Rousimar Palhares vs. Tomasz Drwal fight in the SPIKE TV and PPV portion of the show. Rousimar has since been suspended for holding his submission too long. If the company was so offended by his actions, why did they promote it by showing it twice?
