Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago
The UFC must have felt guilty for putting Jon Fitch on the prelims in his last fight. This would also be a good time for Fitch to remind fans that he can still finish fights. Paulo Thiago’s UFC career is off to one hell of a start. First he gets Josh Koscheck and knocks him out in the first round. That was sweet. Now, he gets another stern test in Jon Fitch. Despite what we remember of Fitch’s loss to GSP, he’s still a top 10 talent. Besides, it’s not like any other fighters have lasted 25 minutes with the current welterweight champion. On paper, this is Jon’s fight to win. He’s a vastly superior wrestler. Plus, he hasn’t had too much trouble with submission experts. Then again, Thiago showed us that his hands are just as deadly as his submissions. Although, most people would say that he got a bit lucky when he KO’d Kos. If Fitch wants to avoid an upset, he’ll look to ground and pound his way to victory. However he’ll have to be aggressive in order to win the fight. His teammate got a little too ambitious against Thiago and paid for it. So, Fitch will have to decide what’s more important: Being exciting or getting victories. If he wants to have a title shot any time soon, he’ll have to do both.
