Kurt Pellegrino Defeats Fabricio Camoes

This was an entertaining scrap featuring two enthusiastic lightweights. Joe Rogan must have been thrilled to see so much grappling. No doubt, Big Dan was in the back screaming for a stand-up. It’s a good things Yves Lavinge was the ref.

Kurt Pellegrino turned out to have the better ground game. Technical skill tends to dominate when both fighters are really energetic. In all fairness, both men had several submission attempts each. Unfortunately for Camoes, he was a little too excited, as he got himself in the worse positions.

There was one scary moment where he got dumped straight on his head. It just goes to show that getting someone’s back isn’t a guaranteed “good” position. On the replay, it looked like his neck could have been broken.

He’s damn lucky to have survived without serious injury. I wonder if we’ll see a new rule regarding face-planting your opponent in the devious “12-6” position.

Next Fight: Shane Carwin vs. Frank Mir
