Brock Larson vs. Mike Pyle

Brock Larson defeats Mike Pyle
by submission at UFC 98

This was an odd case where Mike Pyle was acquired as a potential replacement, only one week before the event. It’s hard to say whether or not he’s glad he agreed to the arrangement because he seemed a bit unprepared.

Of course, Brock Larson is a well-established fighter. Even if there had been more notice, the fight may have played out the same way. Larson used his superior grappling skills to secure an arm triangle.

Tim Hague vs. Pat Barry

Tim Hague defeats Pat Barry
by submission at UFC 98

Joe Rogan said that Pat Barry had this fight won with the punch/kick combination he threw early in the fight. That may not be true, as Hague mentioned in an interview that he played possum. Regardless, Barry showed cockiness by giving Hague his back.

You should never relax when you have a larger opponent on top of you. Credit should be given to Hague for using a nice transition from the back into a guillotine choke.
