Lyoto "I won't give the mic back" Machida vs. Rashad Evans

Lyoto Machida defeats Rashad Evans by KO at UFC 98
The Machida Era has begun! Our man Lyoto did exactly what he wanted to do. He used his elusive karate style to frustrate his opponent while taking virtually no damage. He hurt Rashad badly in the second round. At that point he closed the distance and threw punches with reckless abandon. Poor Rashad crumpled to a heap while Machida celebrated his first title win.In his post-fight interview, Lyoto showed even more charisma then the one he gave after he defeated Thiago Silva. It’s strange to see him so emotional because of how composed he is when he fights. It’s clear he’s taking his career very seriously. He also realizes that the UFC is a business. It takes more than just victories to make a man a super star. Anderson Silva should take notes. Lyoto Machida has decided that he can have a smart fighting style while unleashing attacks in short, controlled bursts. Lyoto has also developed his English skills. All of this goes back to him wanting to be more accepted by the fans. Hopefully, he will become an example of how to be a martial artist and a fan favorite. Let’s just pray he never enters club-hopping Chuck Liddell territory. What more is there to say? Machida has never lost a round in the UFC and it doesn’t look like he ever will. His opponents always seem unprepared for him. It probably has something to do with the scarcity of Shotokan Karate black belts practicing MMA. Of course…after this night, that statistic may soon change.
