Matt Mitrione Defeats Marcus JonesIt’s baffling that Matt Mitrione is going to get another shot in the UFC. This is a guy who was stupid enough to give away his team’s game plan to the opposition. Later, his brain was so rattled, he didn’t think he could compete in the quarterfinals. Or…so we thought. As it turns out, this guy is at least a little bit smarter than we gave him credit for. Sam Hoger played the conniving politician in season 1 of the Ultimate Fighter. This past season, Matt Mitrione assumed the role of the village idiot. And he played it to perfection. Now, the darkness falls on the UFC career of Marcus Jones. That’s too bad. He looks very dangerous when he gets opponents to the ground. Plus, he’s really aggressive about getting them down there. Now we know why. He doesn’t want to spend any time on the feet. Dana White gave Mitrione’s skills a lot of credit. Yet again, Dana shows why he’s got a great eye for talent. Despite how raw Matt is, he’s got that all-important 1-punch knockout power that a good heavyweight needs. That is, you better have power on the feet if you’re lost on the ground. Matt’s idiotic appearance really works to his advantage. It’s great when you can lull your opponent into a false sense of security before the fight even begins.
