Mike Swick vs. Ben Saunders
Mike Swick defeats Ben Saunders It was clear early on that Ben Saunders had a lot of respect for Mike Swick’s punching power. A lot of the first round saw Saunders on his back clinging on to Swick for dear life. At one point, Swick politely asked Saunders if this was going to continue all night. In reply, Saunders postulated the notion that they could indeed stand up. It wasn’t until the second round that Swick got a chance to put strikes together. Once he connected, he didn’t stop punching until the ref stopped the fight. Saunders couldn’t do anything to properly defend Swick’s uber-fast punches. It was good to see Swick unload here, as a decision win would have done nothing for him. Even Joe pointed out that this was a dangerous fight for Swick. In his post-fight interview, Mike said he wanted to face a higher level of competition. I hope he gets it, as it’s about damn time he faced a true top ten opponent in the welterweight division.
