Mirko Cro Cop vs. Anthony Perosh
Mirko Cro Cop was supposed to take on thick-skinned IFL veteran Ben Rothwell. Due to some wacky illness, Big Ben is now off the card. That’s too bad. He must have been eager to redeem himself after his loss to Cain Velasquez. In all fairness to Ben, when the fight was stopped he was never close to losing consciousness. What more can be done to give old Cro Cop a second, third or fourth chance in the UFC? He’s been able to defeat a couple of dudes, none of whom amounted to anything in the company themselves. Mirko has always lost to top-10 competition. So, yet again, he gets a newbie to help give him a much-needed win. Indeed, facing someone of Perosh’s-caliber should bring back the Cro Cop of old. Dammit, we want to see a left high kick connect! If Mirko can’t get his old routine going against Perosh, there’s no chance we’ll ever see it again. It’s doubtful the UFC will be impressed with a plodding decision win. At this point in his career, he’s got to dazzle the boss to earn his fat paycheck. Anthony Perosh has nothing to lose. That could make him very dangerous. Or he could show up scared to death, knowing he’s facing a feared striker. Also, it’s unclear how much he’s been training recently. He may be in decent shape, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to implement a smart game plan. Cro Cop “should” win this fight. It’d be sad if this turned out to be his farewell octagon performance.
