Mirko Cro Cop vs. Mostapha Al Turk
Mirko Cro Cop defeats Mostapha Al Turk Little did we know, this match had a special “winner goes overseas” clause to it. Normally, I’d tell Dana to pay more attention to the contracts he writes, but now’s not a good time for that. The match itself didn’t quite answer all the questions we had about Mirko Cro Cop. He did successfully evade the sloppy striking of Mostapha Al Turk. Mirko did put together a few good punches. Then, he accidentally shoved his fingers in the eye sockets of the blinded Brit. Even though nobody saw the eye poke until the replay, it’s hard to forgive the ref for not realizing what had happened. Of course, Mirko would be quick to say that it wouldn’t have made a difference in the fight. Yes, it’s true that he probably would have won the fight anyway. However we need to see a definitive victory from the Croatian before we forget about the time he got head-kicked into oblivion. Unfortunately, we’re not going to see Cro Cop’s redemption in the UFC. That’s a shame too because there’s always a submission specialist looking to gain credibility by knocking out a supposed striking expert. Next Fight: Cain Velasquez vs. Cheick Kongo
