Roy Nelson Defeats Brendan Schaub
Regarding Roy Nelson, I had the same feelings as Dana White. Big Country did just enough to win his first two fights. He punched like someone’s daughter. Plus, he acted like he was king of the world after each win. To me, he looked like a court jester at Burger King. And then…he beat the crap out of cocky James McSweeney in the semifinals. And THEN…he came out to “Fat” by Weird Al Yankovic in the finale. Roy, you’ve got one more fan out there. Although his entrance did not in fact measure on the Richter scale, you could tell he was motivated to put on a good show. He must have taken all that criticism to heart. I was as surprised as his opponent when he threw that devastating shot to the temple. As for Brendan Schaub, the recipient of that blow, he still has a future in this company. It’s hard to forget how he fought out of the mount of Marcus Jones and Big Country. His stand-up is really good. He just needs more experience on the big stage. Once he feels more comfortable, he’ll showcase the full extent of his skills. This whole show was Roy’s to win from the get go. Of all the people to be on the ongoing reality show, Roy was the least appropriate cast member. However Dana was probably hoping he would get eliminated early. That way, he’d have an excuse to not give him a contract. Despite White’s best efforts, Roy Nelson is primed to tackle the top 10 heavyweights of the UFC. Who’d have thought the Ultimate Fighter 10 would turn out to be Dana’s Quest to Give Kimbo Credibility?
