Ryan Bader Defeats Keith Jardine

You gotta feel bad for Keith Jardine. He’s worked hard on his unique fighting-style. He loves a slugfest. He tries to finish his opponents. To top it all off, he doesn’t go for any of that snooze-inducing ground-game stuff. Sadly, his chin held up as advertised.

Ryan Bader can knock out just about anyone in the light heavyweight division. Jardine was tailor-made to give Bader a highlight-reel moment. Still, Bader has a couple of holes in his game.

To give Ryan credit, he’s trying to work on those holes, which is why he won the fight. He wasn’t as keen on going for the knockout as he was in his last fight. Most importantly, when the third round came about he still had fuel in his tank.

In that round, Bader clipped Jardine in one of their many exchanges. Given the way these two match-up, it was inevitable that Keith would wind up hurt before the end of the match. The crucial aspect of the finish was the fact that Bader had enough energy to wing one of his overhand rights.

The key being, you’ve got to wait for the right moment to unleash hell. Then there’s Wanderlei Silva, who hates waiting. But that’s another story…
