Steve Cantwell vs. Luiz Cane

Steve Cantwell looked great in his last fight where he damn near tore off his opponent’s arm. He’s one of the few guys to come from the WEC and be successful. However he’s taking a stiff challenge in this fight. Much like Brain Stann, he may be a bit too green for this level of competition. However he’s looked great in has past couple of fights (one being his win over Stann) so he’s not getting any more easy fights in the UFC.

Luiz Cane is best known for knocking out one-time prospect Sokoudjou. In that match he showed the composure fitting of a top 10 fighter. He needs this win to cement his status as a legitimate threat to the higher-ups of the light heavyweight division.

Both fighters have proven themselves to have skills both standing up and on the ground. Cane has an edge in experience though. He’s going to have to show patience (once again) in order to keep the hot-headed youngster at bay.

This is a tough fight to call. I’m going to go out on a limb and pick Cantwell, if only because I want to see a WEC champion make a serious impact in the UFC.
