The UFC Comes To Vancouver

The UFC has wanted to hold a show in Vancouver for over a year now. Certainly, the record-breaking success of the Montreal shows have convinced the UFC how dedicated Canadian MMA fans are.

Vancouver legislators have wanted no part of the scads of money to be had from hosting UFC events. Apparently, this economic recession is not nearly as bad as everyone thinks.

Thankfully, the powers that be have come to their senses. MMA is now legal in Vancouver. Thank Goodness. Although it is considered a 2-year trial period, it will give the UFC a chance to make a big splash in the lower mainland of British Columbia.

The show, likely to be UFC 115, is scheduled to take place on June 12. As of yet, no fights have been confirmed. There's a chance we'll see Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz. As of now, that rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.

Regardless of the card, the nearly 20,000 seats at GM Place will sell out quickly. Hopefully, this UFC event will be the first of many to take place in Vancouver.
